Four months after the launch of its zombie-themed free-to-play mobile strategy game, a Beijing-based studio wanted to boost the game’s installs and improve player retention. The campaign’s initial goal was to identify the most appropriate ad inventory to reach and engage the target audience. With only a relatively small test budget, a focus was put on flexibility so that various options could be tested to identify the best performing inventory. Thanks to adspree’s six-month campaign, the studio saw an 893% increase in the number of installs – adding over 320,000 new players. On iOS, the campaign led to 40% of players being retained past a 7-day window, and on Android, 35% of players continued the game post-initial activation.
